Default Magpul to get $13M for move to Cheyenne

This morning's Post reports Magpul to get $13M incentives for move to Cheyenne. Just has to be signed by WY governor. Should be a slam-dunk as gov was instrumental in getting Magpul to move there. Cheyenne will be the manufacturing hub, but main offices will go to Texas. ??

Nice to see that the Post finally woke up.
Magpul Moving Headquarters to Texas Over Colorado Gun Laws

    Thursday, Jan 2, 2014...

Randy Bruns, CEO of Cheyenne's economic development organization, said it is working with Magpul on a financial package that could include up to $13 million in state grants and loans to help the company move to Cheyenne.

"It's very significant for Cheyenne and for Wyoming," Bruns said. "They bring a manufacturing capability that's not otherwise present here in Wyoming."

He hopes Magpul's move will cause other manufacturers to consider relocating or opening facilities in Wyoming.

Magpul spokesman Duane Liptak said the company plans to move the majority of its workers from Colorado over the next 12 to 16 months. The move involves about 200 jobs, Liptak said.

The company is leasing a 58,000-square-foot manufacturing and distribution facility in Cheyenne and will build a permanent 100,000-square-foot facility.
Magpul stated their intent to be a more diverse company, so that political changes like what happened here don't handicap their entire operation. Texas makes sense.

Office of the Governor: In Case You Missed It: Magpul Industries to Move Headquarters to Texas
Firearm accessories manufacturer Magpul Industries has announced it is relocating its corporate headquarters from Colorado to Texas. Magpul began a nationwide relocation search following the passage of anti-Second Amendment legislation in Colorado this summer that made it difficult for the company to do business.

"In Texas, we understand that freedom breeds prosperity, which is why we've built our economy around principles that allow employers to innovate, keep more of what they earn and create jobs," Gov. Perry said. "I'm proud that Magpul is the latest employer to join the ranks of companies that call Texas home."

"Excessive government regulation undermines a culture based on personal responsibility and creates a detrimental business environment," Magpul CEO Richard Fitzpatrick said. "Texas supports personal freedoms and our company will thrive in that environment."

Gov. Perry has reached out to more than 30 firearm manufacturers in states across the country that are considering restricting sales and manufacturing in the industry. Magpul cited the Lone Star State's business-friendly environment, predictable regulations and consistent respect for the Second Amendment as key elements in its decision to relocate.

I just saw an ad for a graphic designer for their Erie, CO office, so I suspect they're keeping at least part of their operation (possibly office type stuff) here in CO.

And on a side note I noticed last night New York is pushing HUGE incentive packages for companies wanting to locate there.
    Like 10 years no taxes.

Maybe because companies and people are leaving NY in droves?

they know that after 10yrs they will quickly make their money back. NY taxes are extreme, which is why they want new business nice and dug in before they get the sticker shock.

    It's called "Start Up NY"

    http://startup-ny.com/

I wrote them and told them under no circumstances would I move my family and business there after Cuomo said I was an inconvenient person ("don't belong"). And I said anyone else would be crazy to do so given the history of people who identity groups of others as not belonging.

I did not include this photo (but I should have)...
