I received my life member packet last week.
I still kick myself for not signing up last year when it was $300.00

Someone tell me again how a standard NRA membership does not go towards legislative action. There is another branch of NRA you need to send money to or some sort. Sorry to thread-jack, just needed a refresher.
Lessons cost money. Good ones cost lots. -Tony Beets
The NRA-ILA (institute of legislative action) is the political strong arm. They do their own fund raising, usually through raffles and lots of mail begging and pleading for help beating the latest threat. I'm not sure what membership dues go toward... Probably everything from promoting gun safety and hunter safety classes to sponsoring ranges and events (and of course paying the staff's pay checks).

I'd bet a solid third goes to absurd mailings begging to renew. After I was a member, but before i was a life member, I finally sent LaPierre/NRA a letter stating that I promised I would always renew if they would send me ONE notice, not monthly ones. I explained how it wasn't how I wanted my money spent. It actually worked. Obviously, I haven't gotten anything since either.
I'm about to do the same to Jim DeMint @ Heritage, although I may just drop that and give all that money to i2i since I really like what they are doing here locally.
Good man.
