Thumbs up Great News from Sen. Brophy

Today I passed HB09-1180 on third reading in the Senate; it will now go back to the House, hopefully they will approve.

The bill will allow you to purchase a firearm from a licensed dealer without going through the “not so instant” background check if you have a concealed carry weapons permit issued or renewed after January 1, 2010.

I had to make it apply only to new permits to satisfy the BATF – not that I want to satisfy them, but we have to follow the law until we can change it.

According to denver post article the Senate version requires the state to come up with a tamper proof standardized CCW. To me that means two things, one it'll take forever until they come up with the new CCWs and issue them to us, so the law won't go into effect for quite awhile, and two we'll now have a state registry of CCW holders.

i thought this was tabled due to the addition or state wide CCw data base?

So does that mean that we'll be subjected to an illegal statewide database now?

That's the beauty of politics, it's only illegal until they make it legal - for themselves. On the other hand, this my enjoy as "legal" only remain legal until "they" choose to make those things illegal.

THis state plains sucks. We shouldn't have to even have a permit to carry a gun in the first place.

I know they said they were concerned that people would be "making CCW's on their computers" which is horse shit, but whatever, at least they're making some kind of progress.
I spent my Obama Stimulus money on a GUN!
