Thank god I have a back way to Summit county from the Springs. I70 has been nothing but a traffic jam for the past 3 years. I refuse to ever go up or down it again. It's not CDOT's fault, its the idiots driving on it. People doing 20mph for no reason.

FIFY. There's a reason vehicles come with more than 1 gear.

I made it back from Summit to Denver really quick last night - maybe 15 minutes longer than it should have been. Left Dillon around 5:30.

    Not CDOT's fault.

People need to put SNOW TIRES on their cars, and learn how to drive!

Yup, I shake my head at folks with bald tires, especially those sporting 35"+ tires, or 22" rims "what, you didn't know there was a cost associated with living large?".

CDOT Blames CO residents for the traffic problems plaguing I-70...

Of course it's never anyone's fault, shift blame! That's what America does now. I would say all the transplants that come here who have never even seen snow before and they screw it up.

I wasn't going to comment in this thread because frankly CDOT can't control stupid drivers when the road conditions are bad. However, that was before my commute on Monday and I've got to say now I agree that CDOT does suck balls. They royally fucked 6th ave. It was supposed to be a bridge demo this weekend and ongoing work to get a new bridge in. Well, that all means they have west bound 6th down to ONE lane coming out of downtown. ONE lane. The concrete barriers are up and they don't appear to be coming down anytime soon. One lane coming out of Denver on the evening commute. Great. I get on 6th west from Osage so that gives me about 200ft to get into the one through lane that is already backed up past Sante Fe by 3. If you can't get over due to the stopped traffic, then you block everyone trying to get on to the 25 ramp.

They also fucked the east bound lanes. The traffic situation 6th E to 25 was a mess before but now there are HALF the lanes as before. Again, looks like this is going to be the way things are for quite some time into the future. Down the road another few hundred feet is the SB I25 ramp to east 6th which now has zero merge lane. NONE. That traffic has to somehow make it into the only two lanes that are left...of 55 MPH traffic. Lots of big trucks getting on 6th there. They're going to have fun trying to merge with 55 MPH traffic with no room to do it. There WILL be some major accidents there, no doubt about it.

This whole arrangement CDOT just came up with to manage traffic during the construction is the WORST way they could have done it. They DO suck balls.

Didn't they just spend a year fixing the 6? This sounds like bad news to me....

I will say cdot did good on the snow removal in my hood this year.
