That video, while disconcerting, looked like a relatively comfortable/safe place to be compared to what it was like to be white, in Oakland, when the Rodney King verdict was released. Needless to say, coming to a full stop at a stop sign wasn't an option, you rolled every one just hoping to make it home (I lived at the marina in Emeryville at the time and there's no way to get to Emeryville without transiting Oakland).
I'm told some people carried without a permit....or so I hear.
