So to make a long story short- Bought a new Howa 1500 chambered in .308 from buds (its the Kryptek full dip rifle.) Took the rifle out Saturday to fire it the first time and get used to the rifle. Noticed that the mount may not be completely tight. So once I got home I figured I would pull the scope off, then pull the mount off and re-install with blue lock tite so the bolts cant back out. Upon trying to reinstall the mount and torquing the bolts to 35 in pounds I had one bolt completely strip and another the bolt head broke off the shank, and due to that I am unable to remove the mount from the receiver. I was using a Wheeler Fat wrench so I am confident I was not over torqueing the bolts.
So here is my question- Is this something a gun smith would be able to fix quickly, and if so what am i looking at price wise? I bought the Limited lifetime warranty from buds. but I dont want want to be without a rifle for a couple months and their warranty claim is a little bit vague whether this would be covered or not.
Any help pr advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thx
David
