Depends on what rail you wanna go with, length, you wanna keep front sight base, etc.

FSBs that are drilled and secured with taper pins are the best most secure. If you want that added security find a smith to chop that down to fit under a hand guard.

What hand guard you go with is all personal preference. Quad rails are great for adding lights lasers, etc. but they usually weight more.

Go to bowers and see what they have on hand to see what fits your hand the best. You have different length free floats as well.

But someone told me first when I started modding my first AR... Become proficient first before you waste your hard earned money, that cannot be more true. Learn to shoot it first without all the fancy shit, then start modding it. I have gone through so many builds and handguards, optics from cheap to aim points, etc.

KWANDO....I guess I should quailify that I'm not new to ARs..this is my fourth gun..I have dressed the rest up to stay with the BLACK theme..One of which I cant alter cause the DEPT would be none to happy...
I just want opinions on what works with the FF idea and what others have run into..Ive seen some were you remove the Front Post completely and some where you re-install it..
Im planning on scoping it so the front sight post really isnt an issue ( i think )

Dremel off the front sight and buy a barrel wrench and a rail.

Bert did a notch job on a FF Handguard for a member here to keep a FSB, I can't find the picture, it was very unique and good looking setup.

    Thanks Bob!
I have done a bunch of free floats. As Kwando alluded to using the factory pinned FSB is your best bet if you want absolute piece of mind against a gasblock working loose.
Trimmed down correctly and Parkerized they look good and can fit under the slimmest rails. Plus they won't rust.
I think what Bob is referring to is where I notched a tube for a standard FSB. IIRC it was a middy gas system with a rifle length forend.
Turned out really well and it made sense, full length rail and the use able front sight.
