Default My kids going to Jamaica

My ex mother in law wants to take my two girls to Jamaica. They will stay on a resort and will be with 3 more adults and a few more kids. I dont know anything about how safe it is there. I guess im just paranoid and have safety concerns. Has anyone been on vacation there and can give me some insight on how well tourist are treated. I appreaciate it. Thanks.

Went there on my honeymoon. The one piece of advice I got from everyone before going was "stay on the resort and do not go out in town." That's what we did, so I don't know how valid that is.

Good article. Im leaning on saying no about them coming. Im not confident my kids will be safe with older ladies.

Do not leave the resort and they will be fine. Only thing to watch for on the resort are the drug dealers working as resort employees, they aren't dangerous per se, but crime is everywhere. They try really hard to protect the guests from it.
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

I was there a few weeks ago for 10 days. As long as you stay out of kingston you are fine. They love american's, we have more money than them so they treat us well so they can get tipped well. We left the resort a few times to go on some excursions, and we had no problems. We stayed in Negril. I would rather go back to jamaica than go to any resort town in Mexico.

If I'm ever at a party and the cops come to arrest people. Ill blindfold myself, throw the ball gag in, handcuff my hands, and hide in a closet. Police never arrest hostages!

    -wear sunscreen.

I went alone and rode public bus transportation all over the island. From a getting-hassled-to-buy something perspective, I'd not recommend my approach, but if just going to sit on the beach in Negril/Ocho Rios/Montego Bay, I doubt there's significant risk of more than a sunburn.

Many countless thousands of American tourists go to every Caribbean island every single year. If it was like Beirut on any of them, I'm pretty sure it'd be well known and there would be more names on the list than just Haiti.
