Moose are big, mean, stupid, and utterly unafraid of pretty much anything. They scare me more than bears do, honestly. That being said, he could probably have scared it off before it charged the second time by putting a couple of rounds into the ground.

If they couldn't retreat or avoid the angry beast, then I have no issue with defending himself. The video however, does not show any attempt to go around or retreat from the animal.... anyone know if there is more to the story?
