I was charged by my Moose back in 2007. I was hunting it. I had a tag for it. Male big moose. 41" rack. 1,100 Lbs or so. It saw me. It charged, I fired. It died. No loss of meat, beautiful mount, memory's for life time.

This Dick. In a hurry. Pussy whup, whup, whup, calling?? WTF?? Wait it out. No Whup. No nothing. Look enjoy and the young Moose would have wondered off. But that's just me! Fu*k this Asshole!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with this. The guy advanced toward the moose TWICE. Jackass. Just sit and enjoy the beautiful animal for a minute or two for Christ's sake. If he doesn't go away (unlikely) make a bunch of BIG noise - not "woooop woooop" pussy bitch noises. This video made me sad. I just hope that someone harvested the damn meat.

Good thing he didn't use a .45 1911 or that moose would have EXPLODED! Would have made a helluva mess!

Seriously, I think he probably could have avoided it too by just waiting it out a few minutes. That's what smokes are for. I do hope he at least called it in and reported it.

I don't think I would have put myself in that position with the moose. I was also under the impression that the guy was just impatient. I wasn't there, so who knows.

Anyway, good thing the moose wasn't this aggressive.

So if a human was in your yard, yelling at you, you would not show the least bit of aggressiveness?

This moose was maybe defending a calf but yet, it's an animal, not endangered and it showed aggressiveness toward a human being. I would have done the same.

My only issue with this is that he left the moose still writhing in pain. If you are going to shoot an animal have the courage and decency to end it's life quickly and with as little suffering as possible.
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

This was my first thought too but that's kind of playing Monday morning QB w/o an adrenaline dump to skew judgement. After thinking further about it, from a Devil's Advocate perspective, I bet he genuinely felt threatened after being bicycle kicked and charged one more time so he was probably just trying to neutralize the threat and flee the situation. Once he stopped though maybe he turned back to make sure the animal was put out of it's misery. Dunno. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and thank him for not posting up the 'anchor' shot if that was indeed the case because that would have REALLY caused the internet to break.

That being said, HE is the one that fucked up as it seemed to be a young bull which was just learning how to protect territory and feeling out new hormones and such. The noises he made were pointless and the biggest language that thing read were his continual charges towards him. Forward a little and then stop, forward a little then stop. In the animal kingdom this is a threat by something that is actually scared and he took it as a sign of a weaker adversary that may have been encroaching on his territory. I don't hate the guy for the ultimate decision he made I just hate that he seemed to put himself in that position in the first place. He could have just sat still when the moose was off at a distance and he likely would have just passed peacefully until he started hooted, hollering, revving and (most importantly) simulating what the moose obviously saw as a mock charge. The moose was just doing what a moose does generally speaking. If that was another young bull moose of similar size he would have reacted the same way and the other moose would have matched or backed down. Either way they would have settled dominance with likely no harm being done. I don't know that I call the guy a douche for posting the video up as it gives us all a chance to view the material, sum up the situation and hopefully make better decisions if we're ever faced with something similar with less time for critical thought.

ok, reading the title is am thinking hell yes i might kill an angry moose that was attacking me, 1000 lb bull moose is very likely to kill me.

seriously that was a baby, was it angry yeah it was, but i dont believe this guy was in mortal danger...

now if momma is still hanging around and pissed that you have threatened the youngster, then you have a situation on your hands.

Good comments Jer. I agree. The moose was just being a moose and he was giving it all the wrong signals.
