I don't know about UK, but during the 2008 Olympic games, valid ID is required to buy kitchen knife in Beijing.

Remember that in African nations in the recent past whole villages were ethnically cleansed (wiped out) by groups with nothing more than machetes and clubs.

All on Clinton's watch because they "didn't want another Somalia." Something to the effect of 800% more efficient killing in a short period of time than Hitler during the holocaust. That too could have been stopped, by men with guns from Belgium and Canada who were there when it all went down!

I guess I just don't see the U.S. as being on the hook to solve or prevent every atrocity in the world. I personally don't consider either Somalia or Rwanda as being worth a single American life. Best that we deal with our problems and let them deal with theirs.

Meh, not sure about Somalia, but you can't pretend that Rwanda wasn't genocide. And considering a little known fact- Clinton inaugurated the National Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., just 8 short months prior to Rwanda and in his speech he claimed "Never again." That's the thing that irks me... not so much that we should get involved all the time, but if you're going to make a claim like that, then in less than a year not follow through, that's pretty low. I think we have a moral obligation to prevent genocide if possible, such as the stationing of UN troops in the country in question, who were ordered to not get involved. What a great message that sends...
    Sorry for the derail.
