Ran out of gas

So this morning after reading the thread about the "Pistol Shrimp", I got hungry for shrimp. I decided I would head out to get something to eat, get the car cleaned, and get gas. I have a membership at Waterway, so decided I would drive there, fill up, get the car washed and vacuumed. I have an annual membership, and get $.10 off a gal, and the wash for free.

Anyway, on with it.

As I leave the house in Castle Rock ( heading to Highlands Ranch), I look down, and see that I need gas. I figure I'll make it, and head on our way. Well as the title says, I ran out of gas about 1 mile from the Cabella's exit! I was supposed to meet my Mom, so I called and asked her to rescue the boy, and I. She said she needed about 30 mins. I wasn't going to sit there, so we started walking. I figured we could at least make it to the gas station.

Wind blowing, temp dropping, I didn't care , and figured it would be good for us to walk. We're walking with our head down trying to keep the snow, and wind out of our face. I look up for a sec, and what do you know! A guy in a truck is pulled over waiting for us, and starts backing up. We make a run for it, so he doesn't have to sit, and wait. We walk up, and he says we can jump in. Ask what happened, I tell him, and he starts laughing; tells me he had to save his daughter abut six times for the same thing! Even has a gas can in the back just for the purpose I can use. Good ol' boy from Misery; takes us to the gas station, and then back to the car! I thanked him I don't know how many times; he tells me were he is from they don't leave a man stranded.


So the question is; do you stop to help people out? I will, as often as I can, but maybe I need to do it more now. Anyone else ever run out of gas too; what did you do? Anyone help?

Edit: Guy was headed to Cabella's, and a gun nut as well! Talked about hunting, etc......
