The article is titled much more dramatically than the contents in my opinion. The article made it sound like they were going to march on the border or something, but when you read it, it says they are going to go and ask to be let in. Big deal, that probably happens all day, every day.

I seriously doubt at this point we have the capability. military and police combined couldnt do. it would be 1000 times worse a war than afghanistan or iraq. there are monster armies of illegal gangs in our cities. We as the Law Abiding American public have been fucked over by our government and there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE TO CHANGE IT NOW.
I've read the President Reagan regretted this decision but I've also read that he didn't. No matter because he set the precedent and now illegals EXPECT amnesty from their criminal act of entering the United States illegally.

The law granted amnesty to nearly 3 million illegal immigrants, yet was largely considered unsuccessful because the strict sanctions on employers were stripped out of the bill for passage.
Just like now, employers skate when they should be prosecuted.

Reagan was a true ideological conservative who tempered his policy with a sense of realism about what he could get past a Democrat-controlled House. The "deal" worked out with Tip O'Neill was supposed to be that Democrats would support efforts to cut off future illegal immigration, I repeat, ILLEGAL immigration. Immigration waves have preceded every economic boom in US history; cutting off immigration certainly isn't the answer -- but we should have every right to ensure immigrants all go through a process that weeds out criminals, health risks, risks to national security, etc.
Legal immigration is a terrific program, provided we can control who gets to come here. I want people who are looking to be a part of the great American culture (citizenship, education, blend into society) and who want to contribute to the betterment of the United States by doing what their predecessors did, create a dream and work towards that dream.

The media is has done a fine job of blending legal and illegal immigration, so much so that many people do not know and do not want to know the difference.
