Default Any knowledgable AK builders in here? Some questions...

I've always wanted a Khyber Pass type AK, and was nearly certain that I'd have to build my own. Still might. However, Atlantic has a model that is essentially a Khyber, but around $960. Just really wondering if it's still cost beneficial to build one, if someone local has the tools necessary, is it overall worth it, etc.

do you intend to keep the rifle for ever, or maybe one day use it as barter / trade for something else. If the answer is B, buy one .

parts kit run $400 + add in US parts (another $100) finding someone to assit . You have to bend receiver, install trunnion etc, no one else can, unless they are a mfg.

Buy a lower priced AK, strip the paint off and call it good.

Thanks for the info. Cofi, once I'm off of my crutches, I'll try and take you up on your offer.

Wow, 500 for a Romy G kit. When we bought ours, they were 95 bucks. We all bought two 'cause they were so cheap!
Be advised, after you bend the receiver, it has to be hardened. The flats come soft so they can be bent without cracking.

You can also buy a complete receiver from places like NoDakSpud (ffl item), then take your parts kit and complete receiver to any gunsmith to be assembled to your specification.
