    I don't know the ins and outs of how the internet functions, but, it seems to me this is what we all scream for daily - less gov't control.

    This isn't about transport of data, it's about domain names... Remember when this site used to be reached as co-ar15.com?
    ICANN has not done a good job..
    But I agree, the UN would not be a good replacement...

    Could lead to systems of "rogue" DNS servers to circumvent an internet authority (not that I would see that as a bad thing if the UN was in control of mainstream DNS)

    The interwebz is one of our places we can exercise our 1st Amendment rights freely. Not sure how I feel about foreign control of it.
