FYI - I always use the Centurylink router when setting up their dsl. Always works and they support it if it's not working. Pay the $8 month for leasing the router too, it's their insurance policy - if it's zapped by lightning, they will replace it.
I've never had the store bought router work on DSL, they design it that way and don't want to support other peoples crap. No different than a car dealership not supporting your upgrades to a diesel engine etc.
Centurylink chugs goat cock. 18 months of pure hell and negative impact to my ability to work before I switched back. They can forever eat shit and die.

Credit TFOGGER : Liberals only want things to be "fair and just" if it benefits them.
Credit Zundfolge: The left only supports two "rights"; Buggery and Infanticide.
Credit roberth: List of things Government does best; 1. Steal your money 2. Steal your time 3. Waste the money they stole from you. 4. Waste your time making you ask permission for things you have a natural right to own. "Anyone that thinks the communists won't turn off your power for being on COAR15 is a fucking moron."
Century Links sucked major balls. It was my only provider at my old apartment. It was so slow i couldn't even play EVE or WoW.
Mine is working fine, getting what I pay for. I've had DSL for 15 years now, no real issues. A couple of outages, otherwise solid.
It really depends on the neighborhood and the wiring. I'm in an old hood that got all new wires and fiber many years back. Some newer areas of town they haven't upgraded anything yet, so it's crap.
It better be possible for what we pay a month for it. Honestly, their business class stuff, with the exception of their NOC (most rude assholes I've ever met), isn't bad.
I've never had their home service but with the way they respond to tickets and such I open at work, I can't imagine how they treat a residential customer.
