By this logic if everyone in your unit was sodomizing each other on their down time it is acceptable and normal.

That man paid for the right to wear the uniform in his own sacrifices and in the sacrifices of those around him. Many times that sacrifice was the ultimate. The fact that he was ONLY cussing is a testament to his reserve. You learn in the first 24hrs to always have a cover on and to have your ID. Those that claim to have served and did not, should do hard time. Those that defend it in ANY way should get a beat down.

Cussing..... Really???? That is what you took away from that video? Incredible.

Wich leads me to ask: how is it that anybody can get at the DMV a 10th mountain division license plate without having served in it???

Hound, you're barking up the wrong tree. There are more than a couple who posted in this thread in disagreement with you who served.

Respectfully disagree. Language, in and of itself, does not possess any inherent evil or "badness". Rather it is what's in one's heart that establishes intent. For example, one may say to another "bless your heart" but secretly hold ill-will against the person to whom they are speaking. Meanwhile, a friend may jokingly call another "a dumb sumbitch". Which of these statements reveals the true heart of the speaker? Law of Nature, meanwhile, makes it pretty clear that homosexuality is an aberration of normal behavior. So to compare language and homosexuality as being on the same moral scale is incorrect, I think.

To me, these guys simply put the fear of God in the dude. Perhaps he'll think twice before putting that tab on next time he heads out the door.

Finally, found a good quote by Patton on use of language.
"When I want my men to remember something important, to really make it stick, I give it to them double dirty. It may not sound nice to some bunch of little old ladies at an afternoon tea party, but it helps my soldiers to remember."
Remark to his nephew about his copious profanity, quoted in "The Unknown Patton" (1983) by Charles M. Province, p. 184

I have many times put the "fear of god" in someone with out violence or swearing. Swearing is not required for that. This is not to say that I don't swear. I do. Typically at customers cars. But I don't in front of a customer. It is called self discipline.

I have been out with some guys and we were cussing while we talked to each other. Then a family sat next to us. So when I noticed them coming over to sit I told the rest of the guys "Family show now" and the swearing stopped.

There is a time a place for cussing and swearing. One of the times that it is not appropriate is when you are chewing on someone. Don't care if he is a poser or not. Still not appropriate.

It's commemorative. I don't have one but I think it's meant to honor the men and women of the 10th.
    From the DMV website
About: This commemorative plate recognizes the men from the 10th Mountain Division who fought in the Italian Campaign of 1945.
