I have many times put the "fear of god" in someone with out violence or swearing. Swearing is not required for that. This is not to say that I don't swear. I do. Typically at customers cars. But I don't in front of a customer. It is called self discipline.

I have been out with some guys and we were cussing while we talked to each other. Then a family sat next to us. So when I noticed them coming over to sit I told the rest of the guys "Family show now" and the swearing stopped.

There is a time a place for cussing and swearing. One of the times that it is not appropriate is when you are chewing on someone. Don't care if he is a poser or not. Still not appropriate.

And as I suspected your response shows where you are. Funny with a name like "teamldr" but the "Gommer" pic is appropriate... Playing at being a soldier. (BTW: I got to meet "Gommer" out in Hawaii a couple years back when my captain got his 4th star and took over PACFLT). Maybe this world would be a better place if a few more "fucks!!" were called out more often. Those that are easily offended seem to be the same ones that never served. When you go through the service you remember somebody 2" off your face doing everything they can to break you, get you to cry, say "no".... anything.... And that was just basic training. Those Rangers take a "Fuck You" as a friendly greeting in the morning. They do this so you learn that when you are told to do something.... Nobody is asking.... You don't have an opinion, your feelings are nothing / no place here; the only right you have is to do what you were told or get your ass beat. ANYBODY on this forum that says they served and this does not happen is lying. Pure and simple. You don't leave that behind when you get out. You might mello out a bit but it all comes back when you meet another that served in any branch. Especially one Ranger to another. A real Ranger would have stood toe-to-toe and defended himself. The true disrespect is anybody that watches that video and takes cussing as the issue. Anybody that served probably had to go back to watch the video to see what you were talking about. If you did not serve and you are thinking "Why are you being so rough on the guy? They'er just clothes." You just don't get it and never will. Keep playing soldier but don't think for a minute that you are or have ANY right to say you ever have been..... You don't.

To be honest, watching the video, I didn't even notice the language. I kept waiting for ol' boy to take a swing at the poser. The fact that he didn't hit the guy, or pick him up and help him change clothes, kind of surprised me. Had this happened at an elementary school, I may feel different, but college? Come on.

Also, on a side note... how many posers have we seen publicly called out and busted now? Wouldn't you try some new gig to get girls? This one doesn't seem worth it.

I'll say this, you fuckers have got me to thinking. I tried to enlist in the Marines when i was 17, but mom wasn't signing anything for me. Being a kid, by the time I was 18 I had other ideas and ended up going to Bible school (Bob Jones Univ) for two years before dropping out and enlisting as an 18X in the Army. I went to MEPs and swore in, but had a bad accident involving my ankle about 2 weeks before I shipped out . That kept me out. Doc said the ankle would never sustain a parachute jump. Admittedly, wearing metal rods through my entire left leg for the next 4 months kinda took my fighting spirit away from me. I ended up graduating community college with a couple degrees in Gen Studies and Computer Security. Shortly after that I got a job that led to me moving first to MN and then here to CO. Today I'm a Sr. Sys Engineer in title, but I find IT not as fulfilling as I'd hoped. Many times over the years I have found myself wondering if I missed out. Well, I turn 35 at the end of June and that's the cutoff age for joining the Army with no prior exp. However I find myself now with a mortgage, a lucrative FT job, and a German Shepherd. Additionally I'm not very fond of the idea of serving under the current Commander In Chief. If I were to enlist, I'd want to go 11B or something similar, but that doesn't seem to be an option for Reserves. In short, time isn't on my side any longer. I don't want to be 60 and regret having never served my country as a veteran, but doing so is a huge decision at this point and would mean total upheaval of so much of what I've worked for/towards for the last 10+ years. What do you assholes think? What advice can you veterans offer?

I think you keep on going. There is nothing wrong with being a civillian. You don't even have to thank us. Just don't disrepect those that did wear the uniforms and it will be fine.

Through different routes but kind of the same story here...
By the time I made up my mind and I thought of joining at least the NG I was told I am too old and too fat...
I wish I had the chance.
