Respectfully disagree. Language, in and of itself, does not possess any inherent evil or "badness". Rather it is what's in one's heart that establishes intent. For example, one may say to another "bless your heart" but secretly hold ill-will against the person to whom they are speaking. Meanwhile, a friend may jokingly call another "a dumb sumbitch". Which of these statements reveals the true heart of the speaker? Law of Nature, meanwhile, makes it pretty clear that homosexuality is an aberration of normal behavior. So to compare language and homosexuality as being on the same moral scale is incorrect, I think.
To me, these guys simply put the fear of God in the dude. Perhaps he'll think twice before putting that tab on next time he heads out the door.
Finally, found a good quote by Patton on use of language.
"When I want my men to remember something important, to really make it stick, I give it to them double dirty. It may not sound nice to some bunch of little old ladies at an afternoon tea party, but it helps my soldiers to remember."
Remark to his nephew about his copious profanity, quoted in "The Unknown Patton" (1983) by Charles M. Province, p. 184
