Advice on purchase of a Ruger 10/22
I found a Ruger 10/22 at a local pawn shop for $129 and was wondering what kinds of things I should look for.
Here's what I know:
- It's got a beautiful wood stock with some scratches
- Blued barrel with some minor rust spots
- Length of pull is longer than others (actually fits me
) - Does not come with a magazine
- action feels solid and smooth
I wasn't able to see into the bore and plan on getting a bore light to look down it before I buy, but I've never figured out exactly what to look for. I know the rifling should have crisp edges, but what does "pitting" look like? Is it on the rifling or in the grooves.
Any help or advice would be appreciated!
