Default Anybody has a vortex viper pst 6-24x50 MOA-MOA ?

I might downsize my NF NXS 5.5-22 HS zero stop to one of these Vortex.
I don't shoot past 550 and I am starting to think the NF might be overkill.
I can probably come up 1K+ on top once I sell the NF.
    Will I regret it?
    Any first hand impressions?

No way I would go from NF to Vortex , let alone there budget line that has had mixed reviews at best . There have been a fair number of reports of the PST's going down . There customer service will take care of it but your still without your glass for how ever long that takes .

I agree with Chuck. The only thing you would possibly gain would be FFP over SFP. That NF is a great scope. I have a PST (4-16x), but have shot the 6-24x also. While they are very good for the money; Nightforce has them beat, big time, especially with HS & Zero Stops, glass and durability.

Better to have too much glass than too little. Sounds like you need to shoot a little father or at smaller targets.

Yeah , I know I am comparing apples to potatoes, but we are talking an extra k+ in my pockets...family issues in Italy will require an emergency flight to Rome waay too soon and you know how understanding airlines are about booking a ticket for the next flight available...
DelFuego, what are your experiences with your PST?

I have never had an issue with Vortex. Their PST line is very good. They will take care of you in the (generally unlikely) event that you need to exercise the warranty. Their customer service gets excellent reviews.
Just doing what I can to stay on this side of the dirt.

The glass quality is not even close to the NF, but I also agree with TheBelly, it is a good optic in its price range. If you want to hit in between, then look at the Burris XTRII. Much better glass, excellent set of features, and a price point that delivers more for less. They should be shipping very soon and I have looked through all of them...excellent glass! http://www.burrisoptics.com/xtr.html

Works peachy! No issue so far. The 4-16x may be a better choice for you too 550y.

I understand where your coming from money is money, especially when you need it. NF haven't been selling for a lot of cash recently (from what I have been seeing). Last one here only sold for 1K. I dont think you be able to clear a lot of cash on the downgrade. 6-24 FFP PST's are running $800-$900.

Sell it. Get to Rome. Figure out glass when you get home. Hope your family is OK.

I've never had an NF so I can't compare them. But I do have a several Vortex Vipers and am pleased with them.. No issues, no complaints...

And definitely as others have said, take care of the family stuff first and figure the glass later. I had to sell some items from my safe to pay for some family things a year ago... Glad I did..

well, everyone is different, but few if any of us here are operators so i don't see how a pst won't be good enough for what basically all of us do. they are rugged enough, have great customer service so its not like youll be out the money, clear glass, seem repeatable in the 1000 or so rounds i have used. in the price point i don't think they can be beat. nf are really nice scopes, but so are schmidt and benders, and us optics, and i just don't think for the majority of us they are good investments because of the high price points. if you are going to be making a trip overseas for "business" then its a different story.

i have had three psts, a 1-4, 6-24 and 4-16. all were very good and i was never disappointed. when i sold one or two to move on to other things i didn't lose much money, only about $50.
