I own a sporter exactly like the one in the first pic. I paid a little more than that list price for it, but I believe it's worth a whole lot more than what I paid for it.

Honestly, I think most things are cheaper now than they have ever been. Food prices are up 19% just since Jan 1, 2014... Are gun or ammo prices up 19%? Compare gun and ammo prices to any standard measure of inflation and I think we're actually doing pretty well. Sure, you were able to buy a mosin Nagant for $25 back in the day, but those 25 dollars were worth a lot more back then. Back when you could buy gas for $.75 a gallon, etc.
