Yeah... I have recently changed my philosophy in life. Unless it affects me and mine, I stay out of it. Being a good Samaritan or steward of the Neighborhood usually gets you nothing but trouble now.

However I think that the world would be a much more polite place, when you potentially have to back up your words with your life.

An illegal dump might be worth a cellphone pic including the license plate and an email to the police. It is very true that no good deed goes unpunished though.

I hate trash dumpers and they deserve the worst that could happen to them, up to and including being shot by a conscientious citizen.

When someone dumps a load of stinking trash in your yard, how would you react?

1. You are armed and you are going to confront someone for illegally dumping trash:

a. You might get into a physical confrontation that then becomes a gunfight because you are armed; or

b. You might get into a gunfight with the turd because if he draws a gun you are armed and will draw yours.

2. Either of the above makes you an idiot because illegal dumping is not worth shooting someone over, or getting shot over. And you may get charged over it too, then you risk losing your right to even own a firearm. Take pictures, maybe video, become an expert witness, then call the professional law enforcement officers.

This kind of stupid incident just adds fuel to the gun-control arguement.

Sometimes one can just get assaulted or shot at for taking a picture, calling the police etc. Not saying the follower was correct, however there may be more to the story
