Default Oh how I hate THIEVES!!

This morning I was loading my truck up with tools to go do a job. I set my torch set outside next to my trailer for 5min and the guy across from my shop picked it up and locked it in his truck. I know who did it as I called his boss asking if they took it. He called me back saying his guy in fact took it and is in castle rock now. I believe the guy inteded to steal it since it was next to my trailer!!! Cost me $50 to rent another torch. I'm going to give the invoice to the owner of the company and should I get the police involved?

A police report couldn't hurt. It is what we pay our taxes for.

What makes me even more livid, is people who steal food out of the fridge at a workplace.

Actually, even more irritating is people who not neccesarily take or use something with the intent of "stealing" an item, but the fact that they think it is perfectly okay to borrow something or use something they do not own without asking, and they genuinely think they did nothing wrong.

Then of course the tupperware is never returned, or not washed and left in sink so people blame you for leaving dirty dishes everywhere.

Sounds like the police should show up at the jobsite in Castle Rock to me.

I'd rather not add to the police burden if not necessary. The owner of the shop called you back and confessed to his guy doing it. What I'd do is submit the rental bill to the owner of the shop along with a memo explaining why you're billing him (including the fact the torch was next to your trailer) and add another $10 or so for your time in having to chase down a rental and return it. The shop owner can dispute the charge for your time and labor -- in which case you can tell him your alternative is to file a police report -- or (more likely in my opinion) he pays your bill and then takes it out on the guy who really did wrong.

I think I might go this route.
