Supreme court justice David Souter announced he is going to step down as soon as a successor is appointed.

I can only imagine who Obama will appoint to replace him.

Looking at Justice Souter's decisions, I don't see a major shift in balance even if he appointed a flaming liberal. We have more to worry about in the House and Senate.

It could get worse. They could get a left winger so bad that all they do on the court is paint flowers on everyone's face and play guitar. Every decision could be based on it being Bush's fault.
But then again Obama might have a rebel telepromter operator and he might recommend a moderate. Pro-Gun and Pro Choice. I could live with that.

Wouldn't it be nice if no one ever had to worry about which way a supreme court justice leaned? I mean it really shouldn't matter right? They are supposed to be making decisions based on the Constitution. We could all be pleasantly surprised as well you know.

That would be nice. Its all part of checks and balances that a supreme court justice be unbiased and free from corruption from political pressure. That is why they are there for life and nobody can mess with their pay. But here is the kicker. When you have some politician who gets to pick who goes on the court you have made a abomination of the court. You can put whoever you want on the court who is as bent as you are. Just this time they are in there for life and can't be stopped after 2 years if they are out of control cough Obama Cough. The Colorado SC is different though we can vote to retain them. I would like to see the ones voting to over turn Denver's BS assault weapons ban and let go of the retards that voted to keep it. I mean if you can't read the part about the peoples rights and you screw it up than you have no business being there because you can't read or are politically bent and have no business there.

Thing is with the Supreme Court, is that it's supposed to be the highest law in the land, the final say on anything that comes before it.

But at any time, they can just go back and reverse their own decisions.
