Glock is the only way to go! Unfortunately I am having to sell mine and will have to carry a 1911 for a while. Twice the weight half the mag capacity and not as reliable as any Glock I have had.

It's also about as concealable as an M79 grenade launcher

    maybe in a pillow case?

Actually, statistically, if I recall, the chances of you needing 1 round are pretty low. A large % of the bad guys will pack it in the second you make it apparent that you're going to resist them and have a firearm.

Also, if you are not confident in your accuracy at conversational ranges while under stress, I think you should practice more before carrying. Remember, you are legally and morally responsible for where those bullets go. If you can't put a couple shots in a 10" circle under time pressure, when stressed, at 3-5 yards, please don't carry. I'd hate for you to be the guy who gets all pistols banned when his "glock assault pistol that can go through metal detectors at airports" kills 15 orphans from stray rounds, and you don't even hit the bad guy once.

This question isn't about my ability with either. Weight, concealability, reliability, etc. I confident with my ability to do what is right when the time comes. I'm liking the size over round capacity for myself. I'd rather pack 5/6 38's or 357 than a bunch of 380 or 9. I'm not thinking I'm going to have a two hour standoff with BG's. First I'd try to get out of harms way before engaging so capacity isn't my thing. I'll pull only if that is the last option available. I just want opinions on what I listed above, size, weight, concealability, etc. Don't bother trying to teach me something new. Didn't ask for that.
