Default Places to shoot in Grand Lake?

Heading up with the family this weekend staying at a friends cabin. Looking on the Forest Service website and called but found nothing dedicated, just the basic forest service rules in designated boundaries: Prohibits the discharging or any other implement capable of taking human life, causing serious injury r damaging property as follows: (1) in or within 150yds of any residence, building, campsite, or occupied area, or (2) Across or on a road or body of water adjacent thereto, or in any manner or place whereby any person or property is exposed to injury or damage as a result in such discharge. Thought I would check with all you mountain men first! Thanks
Forgiveness is between them and god. It’s my job to arrange the meeting

There's a CPW public range on US40 between Hot Sulphur Springs and Parschall. Nice place to shoot, but might be closed right now due to snow. Otherwise, you'd probably have some luck asking locals and local LEO's.

The place that rondog is talking about is awesome. I think its just outside of kremmling. Looking at the .gov website it looks like its closed in the winter. Actual name is Byers Canyon Rifle Range.
My EDC: Handcuffs, Bandana, and Ball Gag.

If I'm ever at a party and the cops come to arrest people. Ill blindfold myself, throw the ball gag in, handcuff my hands, and hide in a closet. Police never arrest hostages!

Yeah, I've seen the snow ass-deep to a tall cowboy in that place when I've driven by in the winter.....but it's cool in the summer, remember to take some good skeeter repellant though. The fuckers can be vicious. Probably some good trout fishing around the area too, there's public access areas all around on 40.

I'm not sure what the longest ranges are, but at least 200, maybe 300 or 400 too. But there's rifle ranges, pistol, rimfire, shotgun, archery, and a large LEO range too, but us unwashed peons can't go in there. I bet there's some good brass pickin's in the LEO range.....

I didnt have an AR when I went to it, but it seemed like they had a few targets set up at 400+ yards. They seemed like they were straight up the mountain though.

Thinking about going up here in June. Was just looking for places to shoot as well. Thinking the shooting range rondog brought up, but any good public land spots anybody knows about?

There's a real good view of the Byers Canyon Range on Google Earth, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to bring that image here. I guess you can just look up Parshall, CO, then scroll east along US40 a little ways. It's pretty obvious.
