But seriously though, let's get back on track...
We were talking about peanut allergies.
Recap:
-those with peanut allergies should be careful.
-nuh uh. I have peanut allergies. You should be careful for me. I win.
...I think we should pick it back up from there

Is peanut allergy really that common that we have to quarantine schools from peanut butter/peanut products? Is it so bad that a kid cannot be on the other side of the room with a PB&J sammich without creating insta-death for the afflicted child? The way some treat it, it's as if a child with peanut allergies touches an unopened Snickers bar they'll keel over and die.![]()

I'm allergic to cashews, pistachios, macadamias, and a few other nuts.
I need to make sure you don't take them anywhere outside your house because you might kill me.
Thanks.
I'll make sure I don't bring peanuts to a school. I haven't been in a school for over 30 years so my track record is pretty good.

Ronin --
Peanut allergies are becoming more common than they once were. Not sure why. Yes, allergies that lead to anaphylactic shock can be quite severe but I think it is also somewhat overstated and overemphasized by overly cautious schools and lawyers. I can understand airlines changing their snacks because they run multiple flights on the same aircraft and want the flexibility of changing platforms when needed so they don't need the headache or expense of sterilizing each aircraft between each flight. I also don't have a problem with parents of afflicted kids ASKING other parents if they would agree to go peanut-free at school. OTOH, schools simply banning anything with peanuts in them is a bit of the tail wagging the dog and that's what I object to. Historically, people with somewhat unique conditions figure out how to deal with it themselves. Today, they demand society at large accommodate them.
The argument that children who don't take vaccinations (for whatever reason) endanger those who do is just stupid. If the vaccine works, your children are already protected when they get the DPT, MMR, etc. That's the whole point of the vaccines. The ones who are endangered (somewhat) are the kids who can't take the vaccines for medical reasons if there are more kids around who haven't been vaccinated simply because their parents listen to Jenny McCarthy.

Best way to get in to see me at the shop is to call or email Shannon and make an appointment.
I'm allergic to liberal idiots, can we ban those in public?
