Nobody kills it. Just get shelved, too much "other business". Repubs out number Dems on comittee, but only about a third are what we would consider "gun rights supporters" with most being reasonable restrictions types and most Dems on comittee are rabid anti gun. Even if they hear and pass it out it will be gutted to point of being a joke. So my prediction is luke warm support and vehement opposition = no effort put out to even read/hear it..

Hope I am wrong and get flamed for being pessimist.

It needs to be reworded. It states:

(b) conducts a program of gun confiscation directed at any firearm
which is not prohibited by Federal law or any group of persons who are
not prohibited from possessing a firearm under Federal law.”

So, in the future, if a gun/person/group of persons becomes prohibited by federal law (thinking along the lines of the 94 AWB or some returning vets with "mental illnesses"), confiscation of that gun is OK? Someone needs to rethink the wording.

I hate to say it, but a good portion of the voting public doesn't know, they don't care until it lands on their doorsteps, and then they're all shocked when it happens. Look at what happened here last year. If people weren't shocked by the crap legislation that got crammed down our throats, then how were the recall elections successful after those same people were previously voted into office? A LOT of people were shocked. Sad but true. Granted there was extenuating circumstances that pushed those votes to the fore, but people simply don't pay aattention until it's in their face and a lot of them will vote for D's based on other things if they think their guns are safe, when it's thrown right in their face that they are NOT safe, then they reconsidder. I've seen it happen a lot in MN where I grew up. Gun control is about the only thing that will trump Dems getting elected in many areas of MN and something like this could change that state from blue to red overnight if they were dumb enough to vote against it.

Agreed. It's horrifying how much of the voting public cannot answer simple citizenship questions that immigrants are required to answer. How many U.S. senators are there? Who was POTUS during WW2? Who was the first POTUS? What are the 3 branches of government? Basic things that a significant percentage of U.S. voters have no idea of.

This bill is DOA. Congressmen bring these bills up to to show their constituents that they are 'doing something'. It won't be discussed in committee and it won't make it to the floor.

If it makes it to the floor, so what. Do you think the bleeding heart liberals are going to care if someone votes no? Not likely.

The large majority of the folks here may be single issue voters (my self mostly included) but it doesn't mean the overall voting population is single issue. The Conservatives can't run on guns and anti-women's rights and expect to win election cycles.
