Red face Let Your Tinfoil Hat Juices Flow: Video Traffic Counter Sighted Yesterday.

So I saw something on the way to work yesterday. Near Iliff and Tower, however on a side road just off the intersection. It looked strange. A pole with what looked like a small camera at the top pointed down at the street. It was affixed to a street light pole.

Upon doing some more research it was just like this:

Here is an article about it: http://miovision.com/blog/bcounted-m...ter-challenge/

I would have taken a picture but on my way home 8 hours later it was gone.

Wonder why they are counting traffic this way and not the old way?

I thought it could be one of those Aurora Police License Plate cameras that they say they have but won't tell you where they put them. Would have made sense that they be portable to target a certain neighborhood if they wish.

Probably because the old pressure activated switches that use rubber tubing are always getting torn up. Couldn't have any plows running through the intersection, either.

The time for tinfoil is long past on that issue. Between your phone and ubiquitous cameras anytime you drive somewhere there is a record of it in multiple places.

It's the way they determine whether a traffic light is needed.
