. A lot of folks think components are coming back. Myself I doubt it, expect things to become more scarce as doomberg drops serious coin, closer we get to November.

Just moved to my new house, when I get my shooting area all secured and locked off from my kids. Im going to be investing in a nice reloading set up, it will be the only way I see to keep shooting. Just have to wait for components and powder to come down in price.

I feel like I'm being priced out of everything really. Same job as last year, but stressing a LOT more each time I pay the bills every two weeks. It doesn't help that I lost $200 a paycheck to health insurance though.

As far as shooting, I haven't just got out and shot 100's of rounds in a day in years and years. However, I just do the monthly IDPA match, which is more productive, and usually only around 90 rounds. It's been a good balance. I haven't bought ammo in several years, but that is because a family friend gave me like 400-500 rounds a few years ago and I've been doing matches off that since then. God bless him.

I know what your talking about but i have been through it too many times before i almost expect it in all of my interests.
Mt. biking got big and now the cost of a decent bike is in the thousands.
Climbing got big and everything tripled in price.
Backpacking brought on this "ultra lightweight" craze and everything doubled to tripled in price.
Skiing/snowborading/telemarking has easily quadrupled in price for gear and lift ticket so people go back country and gear specific to that has gone up even more.
Fly fishing got big and things quintupled or more in price.
I could list more but the same is true and on top of that gas prices keep going up.

As for your shooting problem start reloading. I think i am about .27 a round with what i have right now for 223rem and only started reloading for that caliber when prices when out of control. Not positive what current prices are but i am sure it is still a savings.

All in all we have more people shooting now so it is a good thing for our community but the new shooters and some of the old are willing to pay these new, high, prices so do not expect the prices to go down. Buy in bulk and buy when you see a good sale.

Its all about priorities. I skip out on the Starbucks, going to the movie theatre, etc. so I can train. I either save up and buy in bulk or reload what I can.

Yup, I've always saved (I know this is the hard part) and go "all-in" to buy in bulk (1,000-2,000) when I see a good deal. The past couple years, this has been "surfing" the peaks between media-driven panics.

    ^^^^^ this is so true

why would anyone go to the movie theatre these days, last time we thought about taking the kids to the theatre $72 to get in the door, no f...ing way, wait for the DVD or PPV on the big screen at home

my $11 can of coffe makes 382 cups... 2.8 cents per cup, why would you spend $5-6 for a cup of coffee?

    "11 cents a bullet (based on Wideners Mil-spec 55 gr, 99 bucks per 500)
14 cents in powder (based paying 200 bucks for 8 lbs of powder and using 24 grains per round)
4 cents a primer (based on 1k of CCI purchased at Cabelas)
09 cents for brass (take your pick)"

I dont factor brass at its whole price, you'll use it at least twice and usually get some for free.
Powder charge should be .14 assuming the pound costs $40.

Looks like 38 cents a round. Cheaper than most quality ammo, but you've got time to factor in too.

The cost of ammo and reloading components have gone up significantly. No worse then the price of food.
