Getting priced out of shooting.

I have plenty of components and .22lr laying around the biggest killer for me is range fees blu core wants 30 something an hour for their rifle range I know I can go to the forest and shoot but again gas and time finding a decent place less than 45 minutes away is tough.

and my days off rarely coincide with normal people so car pooling to the forest is not usually an option

The single most considerable hurdle for me is proximity to where I shoot. I primarily shoot at CRC and it makes for a 166 mile day (83 out/83 home). If the Boulder Rifle Club didn't have a waiting list that closely resembled the half-life of plutonium, I'd probably go to the range twice a week at a minimum.

I just had an invite to go out to CRC on Friday. Probably the first opportunity to go shoot in 2 years. I thought once I retired I'd be shooting a lot more often. WRONG !!!! due to fixed income and current prices.

Well it good to see that it is not just me. I have no other hobbies and dont drink coffee. Hopefully I can start reloading soon to ease the costs some. I do agree if you live in the ar world there is no better time with all the manafactures of ar's the competition has brought prices down.

I have enough to weather price hikes. What gets me is that I don't shoot as much anymore because I don't know when I will be able to get .22 next.

Two words for ya..re-load

Two more words for the OP: Dry Fire. Stoeger and Nils maintain world-class pistol skills with 10+ cycles of dry fire for every round of live fire. Both claimed to be shooting a mere 1,000 rounds a month in a recent thread on Doody. Reloading combined with regular dry fire will get you the most bang for your training buck.

Prices are directly affecting my ability to see to it that the minions (grandkids) grow up with a heritage of shooting and marksmanship.

I firmly believe this^^^^ is the intention of the anti's! They can't force gun control through legislation... so they price us out of our rights.
