I be a sparky also,, 21 years worth,, I've had my share of Makita,Dewalt,Milwalkee, and a few others.. At the moment I have a Ryobi set.. Others may laugh,, but it is the best set I have had.. Fairly rugged,Lifetime warrenty.. Plus the batteries are half the cost of the others.. And, on to of that, I can upgrade to lithium batt's without having to buy new tools. My 2 cents...

I've got 32 years in and am about ready to hang the tools up. We work with several mechanical contractors and lots of their "tinners" use the Ryobi's for the same reasons you do. Best bang for the buck.

I ran a custom remodeling business for years, kithcen, baths, basements, decks etc. without a doubt the ryobis were the best units i ever had, way out performed makita, dewalt and rigid hands down.
I have noticed that their neweer bateries and chargers don't play well with the older blue tools. It might be my imagination.

Company called Rapport, just off of I70/Ward used to be call Cargo Battery. They rebuild many different types of batteries.
