Colorado 2016 poll: Rand Paul beats Hillary Clinton

Sen. Rand Paul appears to be the man to beat in Colorado in 2016, a new poll says.
Colorado voters would favor the Kentucky Republican over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by 48 percent to 43 percent in a potential 2016 presidential race, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.

Paul also has a higher favorability rating than the other three possible Republican presidential contenders listed in the poll — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
Paul’s favorability ranking is 41 percent and his unfavorability ranking is 30 percent. Huckabee has a favorability rating of 37 percent and an unfavorability ranking of 30 percent. The other two GOP candidates both have higher unfavorability than favorability rankings.

For her part, Clinton scores 48 percent in favorability and 47 percent in unfavorability with respondents.
The poll comes as speculation is rising about the 2016 GOP presidential field and provides insight into a state that was crucial in the 2012 election.
The poll might also shed some light on where Paul could outflank his GOP counterparts — among young voters. While Clinton leads Bush by 21 points and Huckabee by 11 points among 18-to 29-year-olds, Paul matched the former secretary of state in the age group, with both scoring 43 percent.
Paul also had a strong edge against Clinton among respondents who identify as independent voters. 48 percent of independent voters favored Paul, while just 37 perfect favored Clinton.
The Quinnipiac poll was conducted April 15-21 with 1,298 registered voters on landlines and cell phones. The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 2.7 percentage points.

I'd vote for Paul, and if he doesn't run or make it past the primaries, then I guess my vote will probably just go to whoever the Libertarians are running. Spare me the "then you might as well be voting democrat", because I'm done holding my nose and voting for another fucking RINO or weak ass candidate that can't win.

The biggest reason more then likely i will be voting R instead of L is because i know if Newtown happened under Hillary's watch she would have come down hard on "those assault weapons" like she could still be on the rag and some gun regs would have been passed. If Krispy Kreme or the like was the challenger i will go L too.

Sadly i am sure he will. The R's do not seem to like him even though he is much more like them then his dad was.

The biggest reason more then likely i will be voting R instead of L is because i know if Newtown happened under Hillary's watch she would have come down hard on "those assault weapons" like she could still be on the rag and some gun regs would have been passed. Krispy Kreme or Jeb... No thanks, I'll just tell the RNC to forget I ever existed because they sure as shit are not getting another thing from me. But I did the whole "Anyone but Obama" last election, and it just seems like the RNC is out to screw themselves over. If they can put forth a candidate that won't even touch the social issues, just focus on what the job of president entails, I could vote for them.

Well, you better scratch Rand Paul from you list then. From the Paul website:

On Abortion: “In addition, I believe we may be able to save millions of lives in the near future by allowing states to pass their own anti-abortion laws. If states were able to do so, I sincerely believe many -- including Kentucky -- would do so tomorrow, saving hundreds of thousands of lives.”

He also opposes same sex marriage.

You're living in a dream world if you think any candidate can get away without commenting on social issues.

Don't get me wrong...I like Rand Paul and could easily support him if he runs. But I'm gonna wait and see the field first.

For you guys who think candidates shouldn't comment or have opinions on social issues, you probably shouldn't be considering voting for a conservative. Traditional social values are a defining theme of conservatism whether you agree with them or not. That's the whole point of "conservatism".

You should probably vote third party. Good luck with that on a national scale.

The whole abortion issue is a red-herring (no pun intended). Abortion is legal and the law of the land, much like Obamacare. Nothing short of a congressional bill outlawing the procedure presented to the President for signature is going to change that, and that is not going to happen because Americans overwhelmly support a womens right to choose. And if a bill was signed into law the Supreme Court would eventually find it unconstitutional based on previous rulings of a women's basic right to choose. So when the question comes up that should be the answer.

Same thing is going to happen to same-sex marriage. Unless the U.S. congress (House and Senate) pass a bill amending the Constitution, basically adding another amendment to the Bill of Rights, the issue is going to be a moot point. The question should not even be asked, because the President cannot make an impact.
