The whole abortion issue is a red-herring (no pun intended). Abortion is legal and the law of the land, much like Obamacare. Nothing short of a congressional bill outlawing the procedure presented to the President for signature is going to change that, and that is not going to happen because Americans overwhelmly support a womens right to choose. And if a bill was signed into law the Supreme Court would eventually find it unconstitutional based on previous rulings of a women's basic right to choose. So when the question comes up that should be the answer.

Same thing is going to happen to same-sex marriage. Unless the U.S. congress (House and Senate) pass a bill amending the Constitution, basically adding another amendment to the Bill of Rights, the issue is going to be a moot point. The question should not even be asked, because the President cannot make an impact.
