Default Buying on armslist from out of state.

Ok so I took all the advise and ended up using buds for 830. Thanks everybody.

So I found a rifle on armslist. Don't know the seller rifle is new what is the best way keep from being screwed out of money and or the rifle. I know paypal doesn't cover firearms. I don't think a cashiers check can have the payment stopped ? So what to do ?

I wouldn't buy an out of state firearm on armslist. Gun broker maybe. If it's worth it fly/drive there.

Yep. Unless I actually knew and trusted the seller. Or maybe if it was from an FFL that I could verify as being legit.

I would think that if you have to ask this, you already know the answer.

Is it really THAT good of a deal that you want to risk getting scammed and losing out on all of your money?

I barely want to buy/sell locally from armslist. Now way I'd do an out of state purchase/sell.

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.

Have him ship it through a dealer that you choose. You talk to the dealer, he ships it to your dealer. Once you check it over you send him the money. If he isn't okay with that, avoid the deal.

You are asking for the receiving FFL to act as escrow agent? Nobody is going to ship anything anywhere without being paid first. If you can find an FFL near the seller that is willing to act as escrow for small fee it'd be fairly safe (for both parties). Beyond that you are playing with fire.

Yeah Sniper that is what I'm thinking as well. Buying from the private seller saves me 200 over a dealer. All though I did a search with his address and it comes up on the atf ffl list from last year.

May we inquire as to what the firearm is? Perhaps one of us can find it new, for a lower cost than your dealer, and less sketchy than this possible scenario.

And for the record, I would NEVER ship a firearm on Armslist to a dealer before receiving payment.

The one time I was willing to buy off private owner out of State.. I paid a FFL to do appraisal (not certified) then the same FFL shipped it to my FFL once I was satisfied and paid the seller.
