What's normal minimum wage these days? $7.00 an hour?

Federal law says 7.25, think it's higher in WA state though.

Won't be overnight really. It's phased in over several years, and smaller businesses have longer to start paying the higher wage, 2 year longer IIRC. Plus, teenagers will have a lower minimum wage. It's going to get confusing in a couple years as a teen working at a large company will have a different minimum wage than an adult at either a large or small business.

If this is true that would be without a doubt, clear cut age discrimination. Why should an adult who flips burgers gets paid any more than a teen who flips the very same burgers?

And why should a "big" company be forced to pay more than a small one?
Unbelievable. Not only are they screwing themselves with this new crazy high min wage, they are being outright discriminatory and anti American at the same time by singling out young people and large companies.

Teens don't have families to support was one reason they put behind it. Eventually all companies will have to pay at least 15/hr, smaller companies just have longer to get there. And I think larger companies that provide health benefits have some extra time as well.

    Still discrimination.

There's no way that would hold up on court if some teen found a lawyer to challenge it. I think the government dictating wages is BS. Even more BS is the government dictating wages based on age.

The whole thing is messed up.

Sounds like there may be some jobs repairing fast food kiosks opening up soon.

I can't wait to taste a $10.00 Whopper! It should taste better than a $6.00 one right?
    Automation?
This does have a huge unseen economic benefit, fast food joints just outside of Seattle should see an influx of business.

Don't think for a second that automation means lower prices either.
