My mother in-law is a high official within the USFS(deputy regional forrest supervisor). Without having any links or hard evidence to provide to you, she has told me and I believe her because she is conservative and doesn't have a mixed agenda with her job tells me that the USFS has been given a billion something dollars to fight fire through fuel management. The USFS has in return given the money or a majority of it to the states already. She isn't high enough up in the USFS to get to decide who gets the money but is to know who is getting it and when. She tells me that the states that went blue are getting the money and the ones who went red are getting none or very little. Example...CA is getting $250 million. Makes since they have lots of fires. OR is getting almost as much. WA as well. MA is getting a lot. On the flip side UT got zero. WY got zero. I'm not sure where CO is on the list but the money is coming here and good we need it but it seems like some type of payoff for votes to me. MA??? Do they even get forrest fires? Can't be big ones if at all. WY my home state is always in need for fire mitigation. Yellowstone area where I'm from is going to go up again. WY has always gone red. UT has always gone red and both got zero dollars. Seems unfair and a payoff to me. This is where and what our tax dollars are going for. LAME! I'm sure this is happening with the rest of the stimulus as well.
