The child is "gender neutral", huh? Fine. The cashier should've sold her toys for each gender. A capitalistic solution and a win/win for all involved.

When my son was little he would play with his sister's Barbie's. We got him a G.I. Joe. He played with the guns that came with it. I'm so proud!

I've already decided that if I have a girl, I'm raising her like a man. She's gonna get s*** done.

Such a stupid first-world "problem." Parents need to understand they have very little say in how their kids grow up. My mom was delighted to have a little girl; she put Shirley temple curls all over my head, made cutesy little dresses for me to wear with patent leather shoes, and then stood back and watched as her little girl filled her pockets with nightcrawlers, ants and snakes, fought over the Tonka Trucks in the sandbox, climbed trees and skinned her knees nonstop while ambushing other kids playing Cowboys and Indians or Cop and Robbers. At the same time, my aunt's son Kendal showed no interest in typical "boy" stuff and instead showed incredible promise in the realm of gymnastics. Parents have little say in how their kids grow up. Their support is what's important.

And I will agree. I think the big issue is when a parent is pushing the "gender neutral" tag on a 5yo and constantly reinforcing the label. They are not waiting to see "what" they want to become and sometimes it seems that it is what the parent wants.

In the end all some have wound up with is a confused child that becomes the evening news some day. Sooner or later the real world comes knocking and the message it brings is not kind.

    Just a thought.

My mom bought me a My Buddy doll in the 80's the last time this was an issue. She said I just kicked it around the back yard a bunch.
