Default Sheriff Stan Hilkey appointed as the Executive Director of Colorado’s Department of Public Safety

Hilkey Announces Intent To Vacate Office Early

Mesa County Sheriff Stan Hilkey will take over as director of CDPS, "a Governor’s Cabinet level position with over 1,600 employees and a budget of $350 million. CDPS is the parent agency of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Colorado State Patrol, Fire Prevention and Control, Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Division of Criminal Justice, School Safety Resource Center, CDPS Human Resources and the Executive Director’s Office".

    Good luck, Sheriff Stan!

Btw, Sheriff Hilkey is from a law enforcement family; his father was a longtime Sheriff of Rio Blanco County.

Correctamundo. The Sheriff is one of the plaintiffs in the federal suit challenging the state, which makes it even more interesting that the governor appointed him.

But then, our attorney general also opposes the new gun laws even though he's statutorily required to defend them.

One thing that should be a big plus to this appointment is that he is a sheriff and has been with the department for 28 years. This perspective should provide much better leadership to the State Patrol and CBI than if an entrenched state employee or politically appointed police chief had been chosen.

Here's a youtube video of the Sheriff's announcement today.

Your just jealous because it makes his lips look fuller than yours do after lip gloss application.

Based on the amount of glamour retouching that photo has, I have no clue what he really looks like.

The guy he is replacing was a career FBI Agent. Pretty decent guy.
