Based on what the various contractors charged after the flooding in Boulder last September, there's not an estimate out there that will surprise me anymore, no matter how high. I don't know if it was simply a case of opportunism after a storm or if plumbers/carpenters/drywall/roofing people always charge as much as they were at that time but it was staggering what relatively simple jobs were costing (DIY was no-go as the insurance companies required estimates from licensed contractors before paying for the work).
