I don't care what the "intent" is, if that money is coming from the tax payer's pocket, there should be and NEEDS to be regulated. We currently have these things being used in the ATM's at Pot shops, casinos, strip clubs, and liquor stores for Christ's sake. IMO, if you want to fix the problem, they get their first month's money and they don't get any more money until they provide signed and dated receipts for how they spent last months money. To do it, there are automated systems that can recognize these things (scan & upload systems), and recharge their card if the charges are legit, if some charges are not within the guidelines, they don't get that portion of next month's money.
And no, buying guns, with food stamp money and other direct forms of assistance is NOT legitimate use of tax payers money.
I have a right to the pursuit of happiness too, that doesn't make it someone else's responsibility to pay for it. Rights are things others cannot take away, not things that others are forced to provide for you.
They are called "food stamps" for a reason.
Simple fix:
- Get a job
- Save money
- Buy a gun
- Success
Gubmint assistance is not supposed to be a lifestyle.

And my company has the gall to demand I properly fill out and submit receipts for legitimate expenses.
While we're at it, I also have to periodically pass a drug test for my employer as well as client's (although generally the company pass covers it) and pass client background/credit checks from time to time.

My Feedback
Credit TFOGGER : Liberals only want things to be "fair and just" if it benefits them.
Credit Zundfolge: The left only supports two "rights"; Buggery and Infanticide.
Credit roberth: List of things Government does best; 1. Steal your money 2. Steal your time 3. Waste the money they stole from you. 4. Waste your time making you ask permission for things you have a natural right to own. "Anyone that thinks the communists won't turn off your power for being on COAR15 is a fucking moron."
It's like you guys are being obtuse food stamps can just be used for food....that's it you can't buy ciggerets alchahol etc (unless your in NYC then there's shady bodegas that will break the law and sell you that stuff)
ebt cards should be allowed to be used anywhere for anything because it includes unemployment disability etc etc etc
Some use the EBT to buy luxury items (lap dances, steaks, alcohol, cigarettes, etc) and then act as though they don't receive enough from the gov't. Many have tattoos, multiple children, and do not use their time wisely considering their circumstances ...and yes it rubs me the wrong way.

If you want a firearm for SD get a job.
I spent some time in downtown Toledo, OH, across from the food stamp office. Girls were working the parking lot for stamps. So yeah, you can buy just about anything.

It's funny that the one time knee-jerk anti-gun Dems are for guns are when the rest of us have to pay for thefraudbenefits recipients to get them. I support the rights of law-abiding citizens of any economic background to possess firearms, I just don't support their "right" to purchase them on the taxpayer's dime. If a poor working mother needs a firearm to protect herself from scumbags, I'd be happy to work out a private sector way to arm her.
