    Default Food stamps for guns?

A NH Dem says you should be able to buy guns with an EBT card (formerly know as food stamps). What say you?

No. Food stamps should be for basics. Meat, dairy, fruits, bread, etc. The entire program is rampant with waste and abuse as it is.

Interesting situation. The rep is a Democrat, and a very liberal, anti-gun one at that. But the his idea is that poor people have the right to self defense also, and since firearms is legal, they should be allowed. Honestly, that point I agree with. Because self defense is a necessity in my book.

Now, his broader point is that they should be allowed to buy anything legal, not just firearms. While yes, I agree that a responsible person would buy necessities of life and not spray tans and fake nails, the actual problem is the generational welfare, and the "Oh no we can't just let 'em starve..." attitude that keeps 'em alive. My wife had a job getting them off welfare, and well, the stories she told about that job...

Other than the last sentence, this was my thought exactly.

EBT cards have more then food stamps on them.....you cannot use the "foodstamp" credit on them for anything but food nor can you pull out the foodstamp credits in cash form. Some people get cash deposited on the card from assistance, child support, disability, unemployment, whatever which is tracked separately on the card. This is still cash, can be pulled out in the form of cash from an atm if they want. This is the money in question by some, since the ones getting the cash assistance via welfare programs are imagined to be using it to pay bills or look for work etc........but it is still cash and it is theirs to use as any of us would use cash. I personally have never gotten an ebt card or any assistance beyond unemployment but I have known plenty of people who have said cards, and I have been pissed off plenty of times by how I see these funds used and abused but I don't think there should be regs on how cash is spent. Foodstamps I have no problem being regulated, I can't stand seeing carts full of junk food being bought by these - learn to cook and by some nourishing food for your offspring if not for yourself.

I agree with the people who think it should only be for food, not cigarettes of alcohol or what ever BS. My favorite sticker says "go to work thousands depend on you." Stupid to think that soon it will just be a debit card that they can buy whatever on. I should quit my job have 8 kids, I will have a nicer car, house, guns, and eat better than all of you, all this and I can wake up at noon and sell weed to make extra money!

Food only.... It's kinda in the name!!! This is where the whole welfare state discussion comes in.
