Default George Leing 2nd Congressional District Rep Candidate running against Polis

Anyone know about this guy, good or bad? He's the Republican opposition to Jared Polis for the 2nd congressional district.

30 years in Law in the Finance and Energy Field. Chairman of the Republican Party for Boulder County.

I imagine it'll be a tough race for Leing as the 2CD is the 2nd most liberal in the state. Read the following regarding voter registration breakdown on a blog on the DP.

"The voter breakdown is as follows: Democrat, 151,519; Republican, 134,349; and unaffiliated, 178,221. But 2014 is expected to be a Republican wave year, which will attract unaffiliated voters to Leing’s side. "

Stance on 2nd Amendment from his website:
The Second Amendment affords individuals the right to keep and bear arms. George opposes a national gun registry and laws that restrict the right of law-abiding citizens to own guns. Policies that make it more difficult for innocent Americans to protect their homes and families make our communities less safe. George stands with gun owners and will be a defender of your rights.

He's running against Polis...pretty much all I'd need to know if I was in that district.

    Godspeed Mr. Leing, Godspeed.

No Libertarian candidate in that district either, so hopefully that'll help him take down Polis.

That's pretty much what I was thinking, too. He's got my vote, but I want him to win my heart and mind, damnit!

Unfortunately, a good showing for the non-Polis candidate will be losing by ten points instead of twenty. It's a district dominated by Boulder and ski towns.

+1 on this and I do live in the district in question. I have not met the man, but he is a personal friend of a good friend of mine and that goes a long way in establishing his character as well as position on issues that are important to me. Take a look at his web page for more info.

Met him at CSU, seems like a good guy, very concerned about energy independence. His family fleed China right before Culture Revolution went into overdrive.

I am a Boulder native, and it's frustrating that the liberals have such a hold on the 2nd district, but that's a fact that's not going to change any time soon. The GOP needs to focus on districts 3-7, leaving 1-2 for building name recognition and turning out the vote for statewide races. Perhaps if the GOP could find candidates that don't shoot themselves in the foot, then maybe they have a chance. Is Mr. Leing that guy? Maybe so- I am all for a candidate that breaks the old white guy stereotype for the Republican Party.

Thanks to the coup of Colorado Democrats and judges like Robert Hyatt redistricting CD2.

    Taken from: http://www.denverpost.com/ci_19310668

In a blow to Colorado Republicans that could affect election outcomes for the next decade, a judge has ruled in favor of a Democratic map that redraws congressional district lines.

In a ruling issued late Thursday, Denver District Judge Robert Hyatt said the "Moreno/South" Democratic map submitted at trial "most accurately reflected and preserved current communities of interest in 2011."
Hyatt wrote that "the Moreno approach to redistricting Colorado will also produce the maximum amount of competition of any of the realistically proffered maps in at least three districts — the 3rd, the 6th and the 7th."
