    Default Rain Water Catching and this Forum.

    Didn't want to poop on a members thread. So I'll post it here.

    Not trying to be a jerk here, but if the forum takes the stance of not allowing posting of certain illegal to Colorado or even US gov activities. Should we be endorsing this activity? Not sure where I even stand on this. I do agree that making water catching illegal is ridiculous. (as insane as mag cap bans) But it is the law of the land up there. Here in NM it is perfectly legal to catch rainwater. So I guess as a NM resident, can I discuss such things on this board? I feel a little silly bringing up this topic, but the post kinda triggered a thought pattern here.

    I guess the basics of my thoughts are this;

    What are the responsibilities of the forum and its membership to show good citizenship by upholding the law of the land and not endorsing illegal activity?

    How can this issue of an activity being illegal in one region while being perfectly fine in another be rectified?

    Are we to pick and choose what activities are condoned based on how we feel about the subject?

    I figure with all the other purse swinging threads, I should start something myself.

    PS- For the original thread - Bondo or JB Weld should work fine.

    Just saw that the OP asked the question HYPOTHETICALLY. So I guess we're good.

    I believe the OP said 'hypothetically'.

    I think we should be free to discuss ideas (within some reason - after all we are playing in someone else's house, and must respect the owner's rules) -- the implementation of such ideas is a whole different matter.
    What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

    Pretty sure the laws have relaxed on rainwater collection over the last few years if that makes any difference.

    Just want to clairfy. I certainly don't intend to pick on samuraico or even his post. He's GTG as far as I'm concerned. It's more a matter of posing the question. Where do we draw the line? I feel like everything we do in this country is under more and more scrutiny. I know in my life, I feel I must certainly watch my tone at times in order to avoid making too many waves. (Perils of a gov. position) There are a lot of folks that would gladly cut my throat if they felt it would advance them in the Gov. I feel safe enough here at this forum to pose such questions and accept open discussion.

    Here is part of the trouble with the rain water issue...water rights were established before Colorado was a state and the Feds gave away our water to everyone else. This needs to be reviewed and changed. Yes...they need water but not at our expense. We need water just as much as everyone else.
