My better half and I had a debate today upon reading the OP and the follow up articles...

My argument: the true psychos of yesteryear, IE: Gein, Bundy, Dalmer, et all, had a true brain anomaly that manifested their crimes.

Today, I think it is more of a "societal" conditioning more so than a true mental/physiological disability. We didn't disagree, but I'll spare you the why...

Making it worse is that dad called the cops weeks ago when the youtube video was posted.

Police interviewed the kid, and said he was "perfectly wonderful"

No one stepped in, to help the kid? Geez some dad; a drive South to Tia Juana could have (possibly) prevented this.

Correct, it's the gimme generation grown up and out on their own (physically) . Beemer? why not a nice toyota? Oh I know, Social status, Not having the spine to tell your kid NO !

How do you address mental illness? If I understand correctly the kid was interviewed by the police, and found to be ok. What would happen if they arrested him for the video; possibly people crying about freedom of speech? The left says people who like guns, and have guns; have a mental illness. Didn't Hitler use mental illness, as an issue, and a way to incarcerate people against him? I am not so sure this is really a road to go down! We might all end up incarcerated for our love of the 2nd amendment.

People have killed people since we have existed, in many different forms, for many different things. All we need is Obama, and his administration setting the bar for what is normal, and what is considered "mental illness". I am not sure, I want to see this administration pushing for a government program that determines who is sane, and who is not.

The first three deaths were apparently by knife so I'm not sure how much traction the "evil guns" story is going to have, not to mention the fact that all firearms were recovered with politically-safe 10rd magazines.

. If I were families of the victims, I'd be looking at strong civil recourse against that department right now...
. If a parent calls in their own kid, and there is a video like this online, it needs to be taken seriously. That department did not or the kid would have been evaluated. Responding officers must have thought it was "funny".

He's a hell of a lot better looking than I was when I was in was 22 (or now for that matter), he's clearly got plenty of money (the BMW I drove in my late 20s was a beat up 1976 2002 and I paid $400 for it) and he lives in a southern California town surrounded by morally ambiguous hot chicks whereas I grew up in Wichita Kansas (a city noted as being one of the worst cities in America for singles) and I got laid pretty much any time I wanted to.
