I think there may be validity in your thoughts. When I see a 22yr old college kid parked in his BMW ranting about "unfair" his life is, I want to throw him to the taliban. In simplicity, I think it is the entitlement attitude and the predominate mindset of "it is everyone fault by mine" is a factor more so in Gen Y than others, but I'm opining.

Looks like Daddy was a Hollywood Director. Yep, good schools, cars. Probably got everything he wanted in life but when the girls would not put out for him it is all their fault.

And most likely because of the upbringing he could not adjust his "standards". Something I learned at about 14. I never cared for the "A" list girls in HS anyway because most were so stuck on themselves and clueless.
