Don't we have several people on here who used to work with traffic studies in a past life? I remember someone saying that traffic is purposely slow through town to generate business, and as far back as the 1970s studies have been done showing that traffic congestion could result be reduced to 50% of current travel times. Don't know if that makes you feel any better.

Yes, IIRC MarkCO. Yes, lights are set so people will see stores, buy crap, and increase the state/city revenue from sales taxes, not to mention the 40 cents per gallon gas taxes we pay while we idle waiting for the infernal lights.
