ak build question

i just got into ak's and i thought it would be a good experience to build one. can someone with experience give me the low down on types of receivers to look for and who would be someone to talk to about shaping the receiver? i don't have a parts kit, but could buy one, however i have almost all the parts i need simply from tinkering with the two i have and swapping out parts.

yes i am aware of that forum but am looking specifically for ak74 info and mostly if anyone can help with the receivers and barrel installation locally.

The only difference is the caliber, magazine and barrel. An AK is an AK. Outside of side or under folding trunnion, they go together the same way.
