I didn't say it'll set the US market on fire. And yes, diesels (in smaller vehicles) haven't been big sellers in the US historically but they have been overseas for years because they're dependable and efficient. That's becoming more and more apparent to US consumers...especially the efficiency thing.

I guess I should've qualified my statement about the Colorado...by "big seller" I meant I think they'll easily sell all they produce.

I also disagree with your assessment of GM truck quality though I can only speak to the full-size trucks. I don't drive small trucks because they can't do what I need them to do and I like the room offered by a full-size truck. But I'd put the quality of my 2012 Silverado 2500HD (gas) up against anything.

ETA: I'm outta this discussion because I have nothing to offer in answer to the OP's question.

I totally understand you having a Silverado 2500HD... My main thing, I don't have a use for a full-size, so why even go there? That's more than I need, and more than I'm looking for. When it comes to mid-size, I'm really not wowed by the domestic variety any more... That's one thing the Japs do better than us, but we still have better full-size (I'd take a Ram or Chevy over the Titan or Tundra any day).

I disagree about full size trucks completely unless you need a 1-ton diesel for towing. My buddy is a farmer in Nebraska where they use pick-up trucks for the purposes they were designed. They have a couple dozen pick-ups ranging from 1/4-ton windows & keys models to $65k GMC/Ford diesels and they put them all to work. After years of trying to convince him to try one Tundra in his line-up he finally caved and got one. Day one he had a 10,000lb water trailer on it and called me to brag about how amazing it was compared to his other trucks. He's had it almost a year now and has 50k hard miles on it and it's held up WAY better than any of his domestic trucks. He had two Raptors that pretty much went to shit in half the miles as this one. I know this thread isn't about full-size trucks so I won't get into detail but I'll just say that the domestic manufacturers really need to get on their horse because they're behind and surviving on their name at this point. They're starting to come around a little but have already lost lots of market share to foreign interests in a segment that they owned since they created it but you can only shove shit down your consumer's throats before they find take their loyalties elsewhere.

Speaking of that, I know of a Double Cab 2010 Tacoma sport (scooped hood & color keyed bumpers, mirrors & handles) w/39k miles with a 3" lift & topper up here that a buddy's dealership (he's also a member here) just took in on trade that will be going for less than $30k (maybe by a grand or two) last I heard. It's MGM which is a darker gray color that is an awesome color in person. Sounds like it's a pretty nice truck.

I agree, which is why I decided on either the tacoma or frontier. After careful consideration, the Frontier won out. Just bought this today.

I don't make the rules. I just think them up and write them down.
